You will feel extremely relaxed physically but you will remain mentally aware and alert. You will not do anything that is against your moral, religious or ethical values.
Yes, anyone can be hypnotised if they want to hypnotised. If you have difficulty in relaxing we can use other techniques to help you reach a hypnotic state. During this time we can then work on re-awakening those feelings of relaxation that we can all achieve.
Embarking on a course of hypnotherapy can be like taking an exciting and life changing journey into your unconscious mind. The role of the therapist is to guide you gently on this voyage helping you to fulfil your true potential in life.
Individual sessions last approximately an hour. The length of therapy varies but in most cases only a few sessions are needed for effective change. During the initial consultation the most appropriate treatment for you as an individual will be discussed.
Individual consultations cost £125. Smoking cessation sessions cost £200.
This will depend on your particular issue and an indication is negotiated during the first session. It is usual that no more than five to six sessions are needed, and many issues are dealt with in three to four sessions, each lasting up to one hour. Smoking cessation is a one session intervention and last two hours.
No therapeutic intervention can guarantee a 100% success rate and it is unethical and irresponsible for any practitioner to guarantee success.
What we offer is the assurance that we will work with you to ensure that you have the best possible advantage in attaining and maintaining your goals.
By working with us you will have engaged a practitioner who has your success at the very heart of what they do, coupled with the skills and expertise in a powerful and clinically effective therapeutic method. Where we think our services may not be effective for you, we will make this clear and provide suggestions for other approaches to managing your issue.
A detailed assessment and history is taken during the first session. A discussion of the process and practice of hypnotherapy is included and your expectations and concerns are explored.
The nature and extent of your problems is formulised and a treatment plan negotiated. During the first session the focus is on preparatory work and you can expect to experience hypnotic trance within this session.
Later sessions then focus on the deeper therapeutic work In between sessions you will often work towards goals in preparation for subsequent therapeutic sessions.
As a registered health professional you can be assured that the communication between client and practitioner remains confidential. There are exceptions to this golden rule and these are when there are issues of harm, either to you or someone else. In these circumstances there is a professional obligation to protect the persons. Strict ethical codes govern the sharing of information in these circumstances. When dealing with your issues there are times when it is preferable to inform your GP and other health professionals involved in your care that you are working with us, so that your overall care can be monitored and adapted to your changing health status, where this is desirable, this will be fully discussed with you. Some presenting issues, such as some substance use issues should always involve your other healthcare providers, again this is discussed at the outset. You should be reassured that this ethical practice between healthcare providers does not mean that all your information is shared, it is often the case of informing your GP that you have engaged in services, the planned treatment programme undertaken and intended / actual outcomes gained is all that is shared. The rules on this communication focus on protecting you.
Healthcare professionals who engage in therapy work have an ethical responsibility to engage in clinical supervision. This process is again intended to protect clients and maximise the benefits for people who engage with the therapist. I take this responsibility seriously and actively engage in clinical supervision. You should be reassured that when discussing my clinical work with the clinical supervisor, your anonymity is maintained and your personal details are not shared. Of course, clinical supervisors are also bound by the rules of confidentiality and this serves as a double safe mechanism. I maintain this professional responsibility for those whom I supervise.
Hypnotherapy is suitable for adults, children, couples and families.
